But I said things that affect all of us, right? Well, nearly everyone has dietary fructose intolerance to some degree. Why? Because there aren’t very many transporters that take fructose by itself from the gut into the body, so you need to eat other sugars to help the uptake. The problem is the use of sweeteners like high fructose corn syrup, which, as you know, is very common in soda. Since it contains a very high amount of fructose, with few other sugars, don’t be surprised if drinking a Coke on an empty stomach leads to intestinal problems!

Burrows, Scofield and Sara listen to the stolen tape (no, not the stolen DATA tapes, that’s something different) and evidently it’s good. We don’t hear it so I can’t speak to it. They decide to broker the information to one Cooper Green, Yes, that’s the word…DEALING! On a more serious note, I feel wonderful and have more focus. I’m about to make a major career change that makes me equally anxious and excited. Anyway, I took a little hiatus because things got a little hectic, but I should be posting more often in the immediate future.

Well, at least one of my classmates points to politics and governmental subsidies for various agricultural entities, leading to an artificially low price for corn syrup. I’ll leave that one alone. But consider that fructose is approximately twice as sweet as table sugar (sucrose). So for the same amount of calories the soda producers get a sweeter drink. Are lower calories worth the tradeoff?
